George is Bonafide!

What a special weekend it was for George! He is FINALLY Baptised! He was supposed to be Baptised on May 31st but Mama was in the Hospital so we had to cancel. August 30th is the day that he became an official child of God!
To start off, we will talk about me since the rest of the day is really about George. I looked really beautiful in my pretty white dress. I got to sit in church for the whole time and did not go to the nursery. Everyone was proud of how well I did. Between you and me, I was quiet because I ate the entire time in church!
George has three Godparents, Lee, Brian and Weldon. They were so very proud of him. Just like with Mr Warren and Tantie for me, if he ever has a problem or needs advice, he can always go to them. He did great during the entire ceremony. He actually slept through most of it until the water on the head part. Papa videoed the ceremony for us and now we will always have it to see not just in our hearts.
Mama and Lee have been friends since birth and Weldon since preschool. I think that it is neat that she is still friends with them after all of these years and that George and I will never remember a time without them. They will be just like our parents only they will not have to discipline.
Mr Russell is the best Priest. He is so caring and truly shows interest in our parish. We feel very lucky to have him in our lives.
Here is everyone that came for George's big day. As you can see, we had a great turnout. It was so special to have so many there to witness one of the most important times in his spiritual life.
As usual, Rob helped open the gifts. He is so animated when he opens anything! We all say that he went to the Skinner School of Gift Opening and graduated with an A+. He says OOOh with everything that he opens, even cards! George received so many wonderful gifts and we are very thankful!
Before everyone left, it was picture time for all of the Grandchildren. It is so hard to get everyone to cooperate. The babies are not really interested in sitting on the couch for an extended period of time but give us a couple of years! All in all, the day was beautiful and we are so blessed to have George in our lives. Thank you God for all of our blessings, Amen.

George's Night Away

Mama started her first day of nursing school today so George spent the night with Mimi and Grandpa all by himself. He started out the night playing on the floor on his play mat. He is getting really good at grasping things and swatting at things. He is super at rolling over and getting to where he wants to go by rolling several times in a row. His teachers think that he is very funny!

He continued his night with a little Karaoke. If you recall, I used to jam with the same toy. He has been practicing sitting up at school and is very close to doing it on his own. This toy helps because it gives him something to focus on and hold on to.

It is very tiring so luckily Mimi was there to lend him some support. He really likes pressing the buttons and looking at his cute face in the mirror.
Maggie loves me but she is growing to love George as well. She thought that she would give him some kisses. She is a really good Aunt and is very sweet to us. I like to give her lots of treats so that has probably something to do with it!

Then it was time to go and Maggie and George said their goodbyes. George told me that he had a wonderful time there and cannot wait to go back.

The Hornbuckle Beach Trip

This past weekend, it was that time again to head down to the beach for the 2nd annual Hornbuckle Family Beach Trip. We stayed in the same place as we did for the Skinner Family Beach Trip so I was able to show everyone the ropes. Aunt Melissa and Cousin Sarah joined us for the trip the year and we all has a blast!
When I walked in, Mimi and Grandpa had put my table and chairs next to the grown up table and I saw it first thing. I picked up the table and moved it next to the balcony, where it was last time and pointed out my chair and "Bob's" chair. Everyone thought that it was amazing that I could remember that from several months ago. Since Rob was not on this trip, Sarah sat with me and had her juice while I had mine.
George loved being at the beach again! This was his first time to go on the Hornbuckle Family Beach trip though. He was not in the picture last time..well we did not know that he was. With all of the extra hands, he was spoiled with lots of love this weekend.
Sarah had not seen him in a couple of months and was thrilled about how much he had grown. She was such a big help because she loves babies.
George got in the pool for the first time. He was not too sure what to think about it. I tried to show him how to go down the slide but for some reason Mama and Daddy would not let him do it on his own. Go figure!
This time, I loved the water falls, slides, wave pools and basketball goals. I had fun going under the waterfalls more times than I can even count. I likes sporting my new floaties as well.
George spent a good bit of the time in the condo since he is so little and lily white. He was cursed with Mama and Daddy's pale skin. He teethed on his rattle from Melissa and snuggled with his blanket from Sarah.
For some reason, nobody took any pictures on Aunt Melissa the entire weekend except for the one by herself! I wanted to put it on the blog though because we had so much fun with her. She brought me a purse with a necklace, fingernail files, and a box to keep them in. I am such a girlie girl that it was right up my alley. Mama and Daddy had fun going out with her at night.
We celebrated Sarah and Grandpa's birthday while we were down there. We gave Sarah a cookbook and we think that she really liked it because it has a picture of George and me on the front. I had my bib on ready for the cupcakes that she made. Yum!
We gave Grandpa a Grandpa shirt in Georgia Tech colors. Two of his favorite things combined...us and football. I think that he really liked it!
Then it was time for my favorite part and I helped blow out the candles. Mama and Daddy have been practicing with me. They had homemade chocolate icing. I ate a couple of them because George is too young to eat cupcakes and I wanted to make sure that he did his part.
The pool was super fun that day. It was a little bright for George so Mimi made the sacrifice to shield him from the sun and get some snuggles while doing it. Between you and me, I don't think she minded it!
I started off going down the the slide on my fanny like I am supposed to. If you look really close, you can see that I have a busted lip and have two band-aids on my knees. I accidentally fell up the stairs but after the initial shock, I bounced right back!
I saw one of the big kids go down the slide on his belly so guess what I wanted to do? You guessed it...I am fearless and just thought I was hysterical!
Daddy was at the bottom of the slide to catch me and he stole a little lovin. He always is here to keep me and George safe! I love my Daddy!
The last day we woke up and played on the balcony a little bit. George enjoyed getting some one on one with Daddy and as usual sucked his thumb. I can't understand why he would choose that over my beloved passy!
George saw me eating at my table all weekend and decided that he wanted a try so I let him borrow "Bob's" chair for a little while. He felt like such a big boy! Thank you Mimi and Grandpa for such a fun trip. We are looking forward to next year! It will be a totally different ballgame since George will be walking!

Camp Nana and Papa The Pilot

I know that this post is out of order somewhat but I wanted it to have it's own entry so I thought that this would be a good place for it. This year, "Bob" and I started the Camp Nana and Papa tradition off with a bang. It was a fun filled weekend and they have set the standard really high for future years!
The weekend started for me with Nana, Papa and "Bob" picking me up from school. I was so surprised and excited to see everyone! Our first stop was Tannehill. We had so much fun there!
It was a fun day spent outside and exploring! The weather was perfect and so was the company! I got to do several of my favorite things like eating, playing, being outside and following "Bob's" every move!
We had a picnic while we were there. Nana and Papa had packed us PB&Js, Cheese Curls and I got M&Ms and Rob got skittles. On top of all of that we also had Capri Suns!
To finish off lunch, we both got a tootsie pop for dessert. It was fun to have special treats while at CN&P (Camp Nana and Papa.)
We walked across the bridge and looked at the water flowing by below. We were very careful not to get near the edge though. If you can't tell, they did a good job of sharing the camera time with us. People there kept asking if we were twins! Nana and Papa loved showing us off because we are so cute. Because we look so much like our parents, they felt as though they had a little Kathryn and Robert running around!
As you can tell, I love to follow Rob's lead. Where ever he goes, I am not far behind. We had fun running on the trail burning off all of the sugar that we had consumed.
Before they could blink, we had run straight past Nana and Papa. We are swift like the wind!
The next stop of fun during the weekend was the Verner School Field of Dreams. I think that Rob and I went up these stairs close to 50 times. It was the way up to the slide. It is a tunnel slide and they were shocked that I went down it but since Rob was doing it, so was I! I do not think that I walked the entire weekend. I would run, run, run! Needless to say, I did not have any trouble falling asleep each night.
Then it was time for a relaxing swing time. I wanted to be on the big girl swing and am starting to get the hang of it. I do not know how to pump yet but we are going to work on that.
The next day, we went to The University to visit. We started off at Bryant Denny Stadium and looked at the statue of Bear Bryant. I was glad to be there. When I was a baby, I would stare at his picture on the wall. Mama and Daddy joked and said that I recognized him from when I was in Heaven before I came to my parents.
We had fun running around. We looked so little next to that big ole stadium. I can't wait to go there one day and make my family proud!
Rob took a trip to see where Daddy started...the Phi Gam House. There were lots of fun times at that place. Mama had fun at their parties too! Who knows, he may follow in Uncle Robert's footsteps and come to Alabama and be a Phi Gam!
Then it was my turn to see where Mama started...the Tri Delt House. She has so many great memories from there. When I grow up, I want to be a Delta Delta Delta!
Next, we went to Memorial Park. Papa has a plaque out there honoring him. I was very proud to have such a special Papa that helped our country! He is a Bird Colonel in the Army.
Then we looked at the helicopter. Papa used to fly those and that is why he has hearing aids now. They made him deaf! :-)
Then Nana showed us the tank. We were both in complete amazement. It was such a neat place and it was fun for us to run around.
Then we looked at the airplane. I am obsessed with airplanes in the sky. When I see them, I say Air-plane, air-plane and sound like the guy from fantasy island. It is really funny! The entire weekend was a blast and I was exhausted when I came home but enjoyed ever minute of it. I can't wait for next year! George and Matthew are going to be old enough to come and it will be double to trouble for CN&P!! Thank you Nana and Papa!

Happy Birthday Uncle Robert!

I got to spend the night with Mimi and Grandpa so that Mama could study. I have become quite the architect! I love playing with blocks! I have some to play with at all of my favorite places...My house, Nana and Papa's, Mimi and Grandpa's and school. I love to build although I probably had some help with this one!
After my creation, it was bath time. I look so cute after my path all snuggled up in a big towel. I feel so much better after I get the day off of me.
After bath, I ate some peach cobbler that I helped Mimi make. It was yummy yummy! For dinner, she started cheering after I took a bite of my pasta pick-ups. If she did not cheer, I did for myself!
After eating, I wanted to get a little exercise but it had been raining so I pointed out all of water droplets for her to clean off of my slide. I like things just so, ya know!
The next weekend, it was time to celebrate Robert's Birthday so we went to LaGrange. George and Matthew had a fun time bonding! They rolled all over each other and held hands a bit. I know that you are wondering how these two are related but I promise that they are even though their coloring is soooo different.
Then it was time to go to the pool. It was me and all of the boys! I can hang with them though!
I wore floaties for the first time and they made me very brave. I climbed the stairs several time by myself and bailed off the side to Mama, even in the deep end! The baby pool was just my size!
Then it was time for the party! I thought that it would be hysterical to wear huggies on my hands! I dressed the part for the luau!
Then I wanted to try on the bicycle helmet. Safety first is my motto!
After playing in the back yard, it was time for a family game of red rover. I did not quite get the concept of it all. I just kept running back and forth without anyone calling my name. I still had so much fun!
We all crowded around Uncle Robert to sing Happy Birthday. George was already in bed but he is too young for cake anyway. I ate his portion of cake and ice cream though. That night, I stayed up until 10:00 , which is way past my bed time. I learned how to do a forward roll...well, kind of. I would put my head on the floor and Mama would push me over.
The next day, George used Johnny jump up for the first time. Boy, did he have a great time! He is a little jumping bean. When anyone tries to stand him up he bounces and bounces. That is probably his favorite toy for the moment. The video will be uploaded to Youtube soon but until then, you can check me out doing it when I was his age.
Mama decided that it was time for George to have his Camp McDowell picture like I had around Christmas. It is his shirt, I just wanted to wear it first. He loves to sit outside and watch the sky. If he is ever cranky, just walk him outside and it works like a charm!
He is such an angel when he is asleep. I love to kiss him goodnight. I am a really good big sister and am very protective of him! He has become quite the roly poly. He rolls all over the place to get where he wants to go. He scooted a little too and took a toy away from one of his friends. I told him that he needs to be a good sharer!
Mama had had some trouble staying healthy lately and had infected bursitis. She had to wear a compression dressing on her elbow. I thought that I should wear one as well so I walked around the house and grocery wearing one of her spares. I try to be just like her. I have become quite the little sponge, absorbing everything and saying much more! Watch what you say around me!
