Easter 2009

George is now 1 month old so I have been trying to show him the ropes around here. He still has blue eyes and everyone thinks that they are going to stay that way! I really love my brother and am the best big sister in the world. I love to give my brother hugs and I call him Georgie. Mama and Daddy think that it is really cute!
Uncle David came in town to see us from New York. He came in town when I was born too. I think that he is really proud of us. He played with me on the back porch and blew bubbles for me, which is one of my favorite things in the world. I have this thing about men but I think that I knew that we were related because I let him talk to me!
Then it was time to spend a little time with George. He held him and could not believe how little he was. George has a red tint to his hair and we all think that it came from David. Mama is pumped about the possibility of a red head.
Before he left, it was time for one more photo-op. George was worn out from all of the excitement. He slept most of the afternoon.
Here is George at 2 1/2 weeks. He is getting so big. Mama and Daddy say that I was this small not too long ago but it is hard for me to believe. I see pictures but I think that most babies and Georgie or Rob.
Like I said in my last blog, I love my brother but have had some moments where I show that I am needing some time to adjust. I never take it out on him but I do pitch quite a few fits. Daddy caught me mid-fit so that you could get an idea.
I quickly get over them with a little redirection. I still love to put all of my bows in my hair after my bath. Mama will sit in my chair and I just think that it is the funniest thing in the world. She loves to tickle me and I love to laugh!
Then I decided that it was Daddy's turn to try on one of my bows. The only problem was finding hair to clip it to. He keeps his hair much shorter than me. He was a good sport about it though.
Here is George at exactly 3 weeks. Like me, he is starting to get used to having the camera in his face all of the time. With faces like ours, who wouldn't want to take our pictures!
That day was the first day that Mama has taken me to school since George joined our family. This was also the first time that George and I both rode in the car together. I loved having my brother in the car too. It makes that car rides so much more fun.
I was quick to show him off to everyone at school. I was such a proud big sister. I was also very protective when anyone tried to get near him. I would not let them touch...only big sisters can touch and love!
When Mama got home, she decided to take more pictures of the little fella! I told him that he might as well get used to it because between Mama, Daddy, Nana, Papa, Mimi and Grandpa, he will always have a flash in his face. He told me that he understood.
Mama thinks that he has the cutest little bird legs ever. He was also born with calcaneovalgus, which is a deformity of his right foot. It was just from the way that he was positioned inside Mama and the Doctors say that he will grow out of it.
Mama and Daddy have done a really good job in including me in everything and making me feel extra special. I love to read books each night and Gretchen loves to sit beside me. Daddy loves the snuggle time!
That night, George decided to share my chair with me for a little while. I thought it was hysterical. He had a little trouble sitting up but I will cut him a little slack. I tried to share my juice with him but Mama and Daddy explained to me that he is just a baby and has to drink from a bottle.
Mama really missed going to the park with Daddy and me so we decided that it was time for George to get a little fresh air. I have progressed so much with climbing the stairs and going down the slide all by myself. I am a true dare devil.
Periodically, I would go over a check on him. He slept the entire time we out there but at least he was out there while I played. I had fun eating my juicy treats.
The next week, the fire truck came to visit so Mama took advantage of being on maternity leave and came to see my reaction. I was not thrilled about sitting in it. In fact, I cried pretty hard but the boys loved it! Since I was crying in my solo picture, the fireman was nice enough to take our picture on the front of the firetruck. George is in the picture too! Can you find him? He is in the shoulder sack on Mama!
Gretchen is just as protective over George as she was with me. She does not check him out as much because she is an old hat at this baby stuff but she she loves him very much. I have learned so many big sister qualities from her since she is so wonderful.
At 3 1/2 weeks, Mama decided to try a new passy for George but he was not too thrilled with it. She also went to the store and bought some more soothies, like the ones in the hospital but these are blue. He would not take that one either. He must be a passy connoisseur.
He is still so small but is growing everyday. Mama and Daddy appreciate this size much more than when I was little because now they see how fast we grow. It is a fact of life but still makes them sad to think of how much I have changed and how independent I have become.
Miss Weldon came by for a visit to see me and George. She is George's godmother, so she brought him a little birth gift. I got to open it for him because that is what big sister do. I thought that the bunny ears that she brought me were really funny on other people but did not really want any part of having them on my head!
Nana and Papa stopped by for a quick visit on their way to LaGrange. They can't drive through Birmingham without seeing us! Papa helped feed George.
The Saturday before Easter, Miss Heather and Mr Curt invited us to an Easter Egg Hunt at Canturbury Methodist. I carried the same basket that belonged to Mama when she was little. I thought that was very special.I did a really good job collecting the eggs for my basket. I had lots of practice at school but the eggs at school were filled with goldfish. These eggs were filled with tattoos and stickers.
Then it was time for the moment of truth...How was I going to react to the Easter Bunny?! Without apprehension, I walked up there with my friends, Georgia Jayne and Sara Reeves.
At first, I sat up there with him all by myself. I was not scared at all! I petted his fur and posed for a picture. I was the perfect model.
Then it was time for a picture with all of us. Sara Reeves did a great job holding George. I was just happy to get some candy. I love to eat!!
Then we both cooperated with Mama and Daddy and took our first picture, just the two of us. It is on of their favorites! I am so proud that he is my little brother and he is proud to have me as a big sister!
The next day was actually Easter! I got all dressed up in my cute Easter dress and went down to see what the Easter bunny had brought. For some reason, we can't find a picture of the baskets but he came to George, Gretchen and me!
George, Gretchen and I were extra spoiled this year because the Easter Bunny brought baskets to Mimi and Grandpa's and Nana and Papa's on top of our house! There was candy, toys and bubbles galore!
Mimi and Grandpa came over and watched me hunt the Easter Eggs that were hidden in the back yard! They were very impressed with my skills. Mama liked this picture because it shows you just how little I am compared to Grandpa and Daddy!
I took a break from all of the fun to give George a little love. I also decided to try out his sunglasses for him. I am really good a playing with his toys first to make sure that they are up to standard!
Mimi is so creative! She made a bunny cake that was really tasty! I likes putting my finger in the icing and playing with the sprinkles!

Here is George at exactly 1 month! He has to wear the gloves on his hands so that he will not scatch his face. It was a long two weeks and we were just plum worn out from all of the excitement!
